The Periya Puranam is the song describing the lives of sixty-three Saivite saints of the ancient Tamil land. The original has 4286 stanzas. This English rendering is not a verse-by-verse translation, as the verses have been condensed in some places, but it keeps close to the original, bringing out the nuances.
